In my opinion, there's only one true genius who is currently active as a professional chess player. His name is Alexander Morozevich. He will play almost any opening. In fact he has even revived some openings such as the Albin-Countergambit.
I ran into Morozevich in 1999 at a tournament in Germany. He looked like a kid due to his baby-face and smaller frame.
If there's one player that I wished that I could be like it would be Morozevich. Sure, his results are erratic, but he is capable of defeating anyone.
Only yesterday his game against Kramink from the Tal Memorial in 2008 was highlighted on the Playchess server. This game shows a true genius at work. Morozevich played Kramink's "own game" and beat him at it. Kramink is no pushover being a former world champion.
Morozevich is the Man! Remember that.
cheers
Paul
