Lately I've been working on my tactical ability. My study hasn't been intensive. I'm only doing a little every day--quality vs quanity. So far, it's helping improve my play.
I've been playing correspondence chess. Some of the competition is weak and some are low-rated strong players. And of course, there's the opponent who occasionally uses the computer from time to time.
My correspondence results are below:
Correspondense Statistics
1White - won 12 (100%) games out of 12 (0 were drawn)
1Black - won 18 (86%) games out of 21 (0 were drawn)
1Teams - won 0 games out of 0(0 were drawn)
1Tournaments - won 0 games out of 0 ( 0 were drawn)
Total - won 30(91%) games out of 33 (0 were drawn)
Here's one of my recent correspondence games below. My Brazilian opponent made a stupid blunder which takes away from the overall beauty of the game. He continued to play in a cautious style and paid for it.
In my mind I thought of "channeling the great Tal". Funny, but that mindset made me play in Tal's style. The final board position looked like one of Tal's games.
cheers
Paul
