Mike Thurber's Immortal "Evergreen Game" (His Mona Lisa)

On Thursday night, Michael Thurber threatened to post a game on the internet in which he defeated me. I said, "Mike, you know I don't publish my defeats." Realizing how damaging this could be to my reputation if Mike was to "put his spin" on events, I decided (in the example of Tiger Woods) to come forward with the game first. Some might call this an attempt at damage control, but I look at it as a way to help Mike heal from all those previous defeats that I gave him.

Publishing this game is a great risk to my reputation. Who knows what kind of "fall out" will occur after this. Maybe you'll read the paper tomorrow and see porn stars or ex-mistresses come out and make false accusations against me. My legal team is on standby in the event this occurs.

Here's the game below: (Mike, I hope you're happy.)

If you cannot see the game, then go here:

The game is so terribly played by me that it raises questions whether or not I was threatened with physical harm or offered a pay off. As a result this controversial result will be mentioned in conspiratorial circles in the chess community for years to come. When people talk about the Phantom punch Ali gave Sonny Liston, they will also like bring up Thurber-McGaugh, September 2009. I was asked to make a statement to "clear the air", but I have remained silent out of fear.

This must be Mike's crowning lifetime achievement--his Mona Lisa. He probably even wrote a song about it to sing at his new gig in Mesquite--probably a plagarized version of Queen's, We Are The Champions. It seems every time I speak to Mike he brings up the game. I might say, "Hey Mike, I'm going across the street. Do you want anything?" He responds, "Remember that game I won!"

I'm considering challenging Thurber to a special two-stage match to settle this matter once and for all. Stage One: A best of 5 game chess match surrounded by a steel cage, Stage Two: A guitar play off (only I need a week to learn how to play). I might start out with an easy solo like Stairway to Heaven or Eruption by Van Halen or maybe more appropriately, The Devil Went Down to Georgia. There's no doubt I'll win this contest, so I don't expect the challenge to be accepted.

Cheers

Paul
