The score is 5.5 to 4.5 in favour of Vela. Jose is gaining momentum and accepts risk to even the score. Fearlessly, he plays the Benko Gambit and after a while I admit I don't know what the heck was going on. For a while I forgot this was chess as I imagined hearing gunfire and bombs going off. When I got up from taking cover underneath my desk, Vela still was in control, but even he got lost in the complications and made a slight mistep. Following that Jose wisely traded down and utilized his passed pawns to the utmost advantage.
It appears that Jose's strategy of playing in his wild style paid off. It was a bold decision to make, but like I heard Kasparov once say, "High risk, high rewards!"
The match is now tied at 5 all. Could stamia be playing a role in the match? I'm sure it is...the question is how much. And will Vela be able to hold off the charging matador, Jose? Anything is possible.
