The score is tied at 7 to 6 in favor of Ramirez.
After losing two out of the last three games Vela needs to make a stand to halt Jose's momentum.
Jose decides not to play the deadly English Opening. Is he overconfident or does he fear Vela may have something prepared for him in the English or King's Indian Defense lines (if it transposes)?
Jose plays 1. b4!! the move that wins by force. Oh well, I guess you can tell I'm biased as I play it from time to time. I can tell that both players have done a little study on this opening from their moves. However, it is an opening that White has to play very cautiously. It's one of those opening where you grind your opponent down. Jose forgot one the most important ideas for White in this opening and that is to develop in the early stages of the game and not waste tempi. If White plays around for too long in this opening he'll have a disastrous result. And that's basically what happened.
I guess it did win by force after all--only Black won!
The match is now tied at 7 points apiece. It's beginning to look like a Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game--a lot of broken bones and an even score going into overtime.
