On 10 January, Game 1 was completed and resulted in a hard-fought draw. It was one of the highest quality chess games that I've seen. A majority of the moves were top Rybka moves. The quality was excellent and when both players play at such a level the normal result is a draw. Go here to see the game:

ReplyDeleteMy prediction for game two (Vela vs. Jauregui) is that Juan will suffer a lot! I can't garantee a win, since I think it is ridiculous to try to be Nostradamus, but what I do garantee is an interesting game with lots of fireworks.
And I will play the whole six hours, no draw offers from me, until the last pawn has dropped, or the last legal move has been played out!
And pain, mucho, very mucho pain for the Cuban guy...
