Knockout Tournament Results, 31 Mar 11

There was some fantastic chess last night.

The first game was a close one. It featured Jauregui vs Pereira. This game was very close and ended up in a draw. It seemed Juan Jauregui was getting off to a slow start. The next game was close too, but Juan Jauregui picked up his play a notch and masterfully converted a difficult game into a win.

Jauregui advanced to face Glenn Badari; Royce Pereira is eliminated.

We were all impressed with Royce's play and Juan had some nice things to say about Royce's play. We hope he continues to improve and enjoy the game.

The next match was Jauregui vs Bidari. Juan won the first game with some beautiful play. Bidari appeared to get behind in development as Juan massed his attack towards Glenn's king. Juan created threat after threat until Glenn resigned. In the next game Glenn had White and played 1. e4. Juan responded with 1...c6 and Glenn entered the Advance Variation which Juan happens to know very well. After a long struggle, Glenn resigned.

Juan Jauregui advances to face Vela; Glenn Bidari is eliminated.

We're down to the final four: Jauregui, Vela, Imada and J.Reyes.

Who do you think will be in the final two?

I predict Jauregui vs Reyes.
