I suppose the psychic was right after all. Jose played 1. e4. Maybe her prediction about me becoming a B-class player will come true after all.
Jose boldly plays right into the strength of Vela's French Defence. Jose misplays the position. Vela has his hands on Jose's throat for about 70 moves! By some miracle Jose manages to draw the game. I've never seen a game so lost become a draw, but that's chess and time pressure and other factors are a part of the game. I don't think we'll see Jose inviting the French Defence again, because he won't be in the match very long if he does.
The score is now tied at six games apiece with four games remaining.

Paul, great comments!! Just want to say your doing a great job criticizing honestly both players. I do have to mention to you though: The time control for all 12 games was set in the following manner: 30/90 sd/90. That's why you will see a lot of mistakes starting by move 22, 23 or so...In this game, the 12th. I played 30...Qf2 and after I pushed the button I had 2 seconds left, and my heart jumping all over the place...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your great effort. Please, keep going at it!! You're a great commentator!!
