Plan for Double-Elimination Knockout (Unseeded) Tournament

Below is my plan for a Double-Elimination (Unseeded) Knockout Tournament. I would like to know if anyone is interested. I'd like to limit participation to 20 players, but also leave open the possibility for 5-6 more players if the interest is high.

Plan for Double Elimination Knockout (unseeded) Tournament

20 people; $10.00 dollar entry fee with printed small bracket table

Or $13.60 dollar entry fee ($3.60 to cover $72.00 laminated bracket 3‘x2‘ board or this fee can be waived and we can use a small paper bracket)

$200.00 dollar total prize fund to be divided between 1st and 2nd place & ratings fee; 1st place prize=$110.00; 2nd place prize=$70.00; rating fee = $20.00

Note: We can rate the rapid play games: approximately 80 games at approx $20.00 (USCF does not rate blitz games.)

Each Match could consist of:

Rapid Play: Game 20/5 sec delay - 2 games alternating colours (50 min total if avg 60 moves) Sudden Death rules apply.
Blitz: Game 3 with 2 sec delay - if needed; 2 games alternating colours (10 min total) Blitz rules apply.
Armageddon blitz - Coin flip to determine color; 6 min for White, 5 min for Black; Black has draw odds (11 min total) Blitz rules apply.
Time: 1 hour & 11 min per match (if full match is played)

Should take approximately 4-5 weeks to finish tournament unless the unexpected occurs.

Location/Time: UMC, Thursday nights, 7:00 pm start-10:10 pm end, Date to be determined

Proposed Schedule (Schedule could vary due to unexpected length of matches.)

DAY 1 (Thursday, 10 Mar 11)

Series 1: 7:00 pm - 8;20 pm

Round 1: 4 Boards (8 people)

NOTE: These people start the tournament. No need for other participants.

Series 2: 8:20 pm - 10:10 pm

Round 2: Winner’s Bracket: 8 Boards/4 tables (16 people)

DAY 2 (Thursday, 17 Mar 11)

Series 1: 7:00 pm - 8:20 pm

Round 2: Loser’s Bracket: 4 Boards/2 tables (8 people)
Round 3: Winner’s Bracket: 4 Boards/2tables (8 players)

Series 2: 8:20 pm - 10:10 pm

Round 3-1: Loser’s Bracket: 4 Boards/2 tables (8 players)
Round 4: Winner’s Bracket: 2 boards (4 players)

DAY 3 (Thursday, 24 Mar 11)

Series 1: 7:00 pm - 8:20 pm

Round 3-2: Loser’s Bracket: 4 Boards/2 tables (8 players-same players as Loser Bracket 1)
Round 5 Winner’s Bracket: 1 Board (2 players)

Series 2: 8:20 pm - 10:10 pm

Round 4 Loser’s Bracket 1: 2 Boards (4 players)
